Dear Subscribers,

     Here is information about subscribing to and unsubscribing from ASTRO
and ASTRO-DIGEST, along with information about how to access the ASTRO and
ASTRO-DIGEST databases.

     ASTRO is operated by Brent Chapman's "Majordomo" mailing list manager,
version 1.93.  In the commands given below, replace <filename> with the
file's name you wish to access, omitting the < and >.

Please use the following information when asking MAJORDOMO to do something
for you:

1.  Obtaining a subscription to ASTRO:

       Send the single-word command SUBSCRIBE to

          ASTRO-REQUEST@lists.mindspring.com.


2.  Obtaining a subscription to ASTRO-DIGEST:

       Send the single-word command SUBSCRIBE to

          ASTRO-DIGEST-REQUEST@lists.mindspring.com.


3.  Cancelling a subscription to ASTRO:

       Send the single-word command UNSUBSCRIBE to

          ASTRO-REQUEST@lists.mindspring.com.


4.  Cancelling a subscription to ASTRO-DIGEST:

       Send the single-word command UNSUBSCRIBE to

          ASTRO-DIGEST-REQUEST@lists.mindspring.com.


5.  Stopping ASTRO or ASTRO-DIGEST mail while are temporarily away from your
       mail server:

       Sadly, MAJORDOMO does not have a NOMAIL option.  When you must
          temporarily suspend receipt of ASTRO or ASTRO-DIGEST mail, you must
          unsubscribe as described in #2 or #4, respectively.  When you wish to
          continue receiving ASTRO or ASTRO-DIGEST mail, you must resubscribe as
          described in #1 or #3 above.

6.  To send a message to ASTRO (which will automatically be included in the
       next ASTRO-DIGEST):

       Address your message to ASTRO@store-forward.mindspring.com, remembering
          to follow the following general rules:

7.  To return an index of files you can "get" ASTRO or ASTRO-DIGEST:

       Send either of these single-line commands to
          MAJORDOMO@mindspring.com:

             index ASTRO, or
             index ASTRO-DIGEST


8.  To get a file related to ASTRO or ASTRO-DIGEST:

       Send either of these single-line messages to
          MAJORDOMO@mindspring.com:

             get ASTRO <filename>, or
             get ASTRO-DIGEST <filename>.


9.  To  find out which lists you are on:

       Send the single-word command to MAJORDOMO@mindspring.com:

          which


10.  To find out who is subscribed to a list:

        Send the single-line command to MAJORDOMO@mindspring.com:

           who ASTRO, or
           who ASTRO-DIGEST

11.  To retrieve the general introductory information for ASTRO or ASTRO-DIGEST:

        Send the single-line command to MAJORDOMO@mindspring.com:

           info ASTRO


12.  To show the lists served by this Majordomo server:

        Send the single-word command to MAJORDOMO@mindspring.com

           lists


13.  If your mailing program adds a signature to all of your mail, you must stop
        MAJORDOMO from processing your signature as if it were commands as
        follows:

        Add the following, single-line command following any of the above
           single-line or single-word commands:

           end


14.  Please note that commands in the "Subject:" line are NOT processed.

15.  Obtaining help with ASTRO or ASTRO-DIGEST submission or receipt problems:

      Send a descriptive message of your problem, along with relevant copies of
         error messages, to the ASTRO and ASTRO-DIGEST listowner Paul Rybski at
         RYBSKIP@idcnet.com.
