Magnificient images of the Pinwheel galaxy M101 in Ursa Major, obtained by Brad Wallis and Robert Provin [click on the images to see them in their full size and glory].
The first image was exposed 20 minutes with SBIG ST-7 CCD camera on an
Astro-Physics 4 inch f/6 Traveler APO refractor.
The second picture was composed of two co-added 30 minute exposures with
SBIG ST-7 CCD camera with minus-IR filter, on an Astro-Physics 152mm
f/7.5 EDF refractor.
Dark frame: average of nine. Flat frame: average of 4.
