Martin Germano obtained this gorgeous photograph ofthe southern face-on spiral M83, sometimes called the Southern Pinwheel. This image was obtained with a 14.5-inch f/5 Newtonian, exposed 80 minutes on hypered Tech Pan 2415.

A newer image of galaxy M83 in Hydra by George Greaney. This image is a digital composite of three one-hour exposures at f/7 on hypered 35mm Kodak PPF Pro 400 film. Each 35 mm negative was scanned at 2700 dpi using a Polaroid Sprintscan 35 Plus. The images were merged with Picture Window 2.0, the final composite image was enhanced in Adobe Photoshop 5.0.
